You are judged by the way you dress

You can argue with me as much as you want but at the end of the day everyone is judged based on what they HAVE ON! Therefore, dressing properly for an interview is one of THE most important parts of getting the job. The way you are dress is the first impression to the employer, because it is the way you are presenting yourself.

We all get nervous about having a job interview. I’ve been there and I know the feeling of  ”What am I going to wear? OMG I don’t have anything… Where is that top…” and so forth because of all of the panic. That is why I am sharing this article with you to make your fashion life a little easier when you know you have an interview to get ready for.

You started applying for jobs, perfect. Now go through your closet, pick out the clothes that you think are suitable once you get a call back for an interview. This is called planning ahead, so when the day comes you are ready to look professionally pretty ;D

NOW comes the more difficult part…

What to wear for an interview?

Each job has different expectations of what their employees should dress as; therefore, the steps I will provide will not apply to all of the jobs out there.

For instance, applying to stores around the mall: there is the all black uniform, the fun and exciting uniform,  sophisticated uniform, and so on. Each store has their own dress code, when in doubt and if you don’t know how to dress, go with all black. Some places will not like that because their store is modern and hip so it is going to be based on your judgment of the store and the environment.

My main focus is professional interviews, which you should try and be if you’re unaware of the specific company’s dress code, and if you’re over-dressed, it’s never a bad thing, you can tone it down once you start the job.

Color pattern: Navy, white, and red. As simple as that!

So ladies, an elegant navy skirt, or even pants, they work nowadays, too, with a very clean white top and a hint of red to complete the perfect look for an interview.

NO SEXINESS… it is a professional environment, the employer doesn’t want to see a sexy looking female (if he does, run the opposite way), BE CONSERVATIVE.

- The skirt must be at a good length for you to be able to sit and not worry about pulling it down when you’re sitting.

-No need for fancy/sexy heels, simple plain close toe or pipe toe heels will give you that professional look. Make sure you can walk in them!

-Go easy on the accessories.

-Natural make-up.

-Hair out of the face.

-It will be good to remove any extra body piercings and cover the tattoos.

-Tone down nail polish color.

Looking Sharp, Clean, and Neat will give off the perfect impression once you walk into that room.

Here is something for the men as well,

Color pattern is the same, navy suit, white dress shirt, and a red tie.

-Shoes must always match the belt.

-Tie must go a little lower then the belt.

and NEVER EVER do brown suit! it just shows a sign of weakness.

My last advice:

It will never hurt to call and ask what the dress code for the interview is.

In my earlier blog, The Shoe Trap and My Weakness, I mentioned that shoes are evil but we just love them.

We say “Beauty is Pain.” I say we can avoid that! We can have the beauty and the comfort. I will reveal my secret to buying adorable heels along with the comfort to my amazing readers.

Here are the secrets (advices):

1. The shoes are beautiful, every shoe is beautiful but you need to look at the extra details that are added to the shoe to find out if it will be comfortable or leave you in pain.
2. Do you really need to go over 3 or 4 inches? No, stay in that range to keep your balance when you walk.
3. Try to stay away from steep drops: Make sure the heels have a platform to give you more support on the lower end of your feet, because that is where all the weight of your body pushing on. That extra platform will give you more comfort rather then having your feet flat with the ground. That will make the 4 inch heels into 3 inches because of the addition of the platform. Just an example, not an exact number of course.
4. Wedges are by far the most comfortable heels one can have, because the pressure is not only on the toes, it spreads evenly.
5. Feel the material, make sure the leather is soft and you can bend it because harsh material will hurt your feet.
6. Don’t be fooled by the look, I have friends who buy the shoe just because they are pretty, an hour into the event and they can’t take another step, which leads to my next advice…
7. When trying on heels, walk in them for a while in the department store to get the feeling. You can spot the uncomfortable shoes by having them on for 2 minutes, I can tell by the look of it and some of you might have developed that skill as well. I will never spend a penny on a pair of heels that are not comfortable because it is waste of money to buy for a pair that is going to give me pain rather than the excitement of having it on.

I HATE, passionately hate, when I hear “THEY KILL ME BUT THEY ARE SO CUTE!”

I can guarantee every one of you that every pair of heels in my closet can last me all night without having to think about taking an extra pair of shoes because half way through I can’t walk anymore. I have done the mistake of buying heels that hurt me after a while, but you learn from experience.

Sometimes you buy a designer pair, the comfort and style is there, you might want to stick with that designer because you know that you can last in them but again they might aslo have some pairs that are just beyond adrobale with zero comfort.

When it comes to buying heels, you just have to know it in you that this pair is the right one for you or not. We are all different, and we all have different approaches of buying heels. My approach is comfortable heels rather than beautiful ones. Stay tuned because I will post personal pictures of my heels to give an idea of comfort and beauty mixed together. Also, I will talk about some designers that are must haves and must avoids.

And Remember, We all MUST MUST Have a Pair of BLACK HEELS.

Oh lord, you know you found IT when your heart starts racing, you smile without even knowing, and nothing else matters other than them. YES, the pair of shoes that are sitting on the display staring at you. Shoes! Shoes! Shoes are my love and passion, aside from the people that I love, shoes are my next best thing in life. I don’t think there is anyone who would argue with me that we just can’t have enough shoes! They are my weakness… Aren’t they yours too? Espically when the pair is beyond adorable and hard to not have. Oh my my, shoes are every girl’s and guy’s (believe it or not, it is true) best friends forever (BFFs)!!!

I always try to hold myself from walking into a shoe deparment because I know that I can’t resist them. The shine, the look, the color, the texture, the heel, the extra touch, the warm feeling inside, the MUST HAVE idea in your head, the details, the fit, the SHOE it self just makes you want it because you want it. Oh we are trapped into shoe heaven. The excitment of being surrounded by hundreds of shoes calling you to try them on, the excitment of trying them on giving you the feeling of joy and satisfation, the passion building up for that pair, and next you are at the register buying them. Love and joy is all you think about when you are walking out of the store, coming home trying them on and on, telling your best friends about them, and making them a speical place in your closet. Looking at them everyday and saying hi my new best friend! =D.

OMG but wait, you walked into another shoe department a month later, and you are lost in the shoes again… there it is, sitting on the table waiting for you to try them on and take them home with you. You ask for your size, you try them on, and oh they are adorable. You just feel like you own the world in them. Next you are at the register buying them. Coming home, trying them on and on, making a speical room for them in your closet, and looking at them everyday and saying Oooo I can’t wait to wear you!

But wait… you just saw these must have pair, OMG how can you not get these. YOU HAVE FALLEN IN THE TRAP! STOP. Do you really need a new pair everytime the shoes make you feeling wonderful? NO. Trust me, I was worse. Oh yes, I do fall in their beauty trap; however, I have taught my self to ask this question… “DO YOU NEED THEM OR WANT THEM?” I honestly ask myself that question everytime I make a purchase. The difference between Need and Want: Need is something that is necessary to have and a Want is the desire to needing them. Difficult concept to some, but think about a little.

NEED=NECESSARY… WANT=DESIRE

I will leave you now to think about the NEED and the WANT theory, and make sure you understand it because that is how I have saved myself from the Shoe Trap.

The lesson here is to not be blinded by the beauty of the shoes. Think with your mind, not heart.

What a beautiful hot day! The sun is perfect for tanning so come on put on those bathing suits, get out side, and get tanned. You dont have to go to the beach or Palm Springs (if you’re in Cali), simply lay out a towel in your back yard and enjoy your summer. That is excatly what my sister and I are doing right now: got our tanning lotion, music, drinks, food, and a fan . Here is the deal: IT IS SUMMER, GET OUT AND GET ACTIVE!

Bathing Suits:

We either love them or hate them! Oh we girls love summer time, finally putting on our favorite swim suit, buying more just because it is summer and your favorite swim suits become second favorites because they got replaced by the new one. Buying a bathing suit has its challanges just like buying any other type of clothing. You always have to find one that is age appropriate, suits the body, and nothing that can be too revealing. Don’t be upset if the top of the bathing suit fits better than the bottom becuase you know what I love the most?? Mix and Matching bath suits (as long as they look cute together). For some girls, it is a joy shopping for bathing suits but for some it’s an up and down sitution.  Don’t be afriad to put a bathing suit on, espically now that there are so many types of bathing suits that you don’t have to worry about not feeling comfortable wearing one. Yes, the bathing suit that you are in love with just don’t fit your body type, that doesn’t mean you should give up and buy a pair of shorts and a tank and hit the beach. NO! Take time, dedicate a day to go out shopping for a bathing suit that flatters your body shape and most importantly makes you feel comfortable. I truely believe there is a bathing suit made for every type of body shape.

Styles:

One piece bathing suit: Which is one of the oldest styles for swim suits but now they have been brought back with greater fashion style to them. The styles are way too cute to not have one, which is why I’ve been shopping around to find THE one that says my name all over it. One piece swim suits give more coverage to the body and to some ladies that is a major concern, which is perfectly normal because not all of us are compeletly comfortable with showing our bodies to the world. There are different types of one piece swim suits:

-Tank which is most basic and comfortable swim suit.

-Jogger can be one piece or a bikini, it mostly concerns the bottom it provides full shorts bottoms.

-Tankini is the next new bikini, it has more coverage but showing a small portion of the stomach.

Bikini: Two piece swim suits that is more like a bra and an undi. It is the most popular amongest all the ladies because it gets to show more of your body.

Types of bikinis:

-Halter bikini is the simply style of bikini that is a tie or a cook around the neck.

-Traingle bikini is more revealing that ties around the neck and the back.

-Bralette bikini this is just like a regular bra with straps that provides great support.

-Bandeau bikini it is the new fresh look that is strapless while providing support.

Finally we have the Monokini which is the edge style swim suit it is a bikini mixed with a one piece creating a sexy style.

There are also special types bottoms that ladies can mix with their top swim suits such as Skirtini, Boy shorts, Scoops, High Waist, and Hipsterss. All of these give more comfortable coverage for the ladies.

Personally, I am all about the comfort and support; therefore, my favorite type of swim wear are the Bralette and the Bandeau bikinis. The Bralette is amazing because I never worry about my bathing suit coming off while the wave hits and for the Bandeau you have to make sure to get the right size for it to stay on and also it doesn’t leave tanning strings on your shoulders.

Places to consider shopping at:

For a bathing suit ladies you pay for what you get. Yes there are places that have them for a low price but wouldn’t it be a smarter investment to buy one that is worth a while, will last longer than buying one every year because the older one has no support. You know there are alternative places to buying brand name/well made/great support/comfort fit swim suits such as,

10:10AM: Happy 4th of July everyone! Yes I am at work but will soon be home to enjoy the fire works from my backyard.
Aside from all of that, OMG we are half way through 2011! How fast is life flying by? That is why we gotta make everyday count by looking fabulous!!!
One of the advantages of working at a retail store and in a big shopping mall is that you get to see hundreds and hundreds of people dressed completely different from one another. I can definitely say I have seen a lot of fashion DONT’s, and a lot of “Wow! Creative style!”
Let’s see how people today get dressed in the spirit of 4th of July.
12:40PM: Nothing that I would wear but a girl was dressed with Disney’s Goofy as uncle Sam as a hair accessory. Cute and creative. Couldn’t snap a picture :/
2:50PM: Just got blinded by a yellow wearing lady walking by. A big fashion NO NO. Don’t dress in one color from top to bottom including your shoes and accessories. Too much brightness right now. Ladies you have to tone down the colors you wear. Do a yellow top but do jeans, white or black pants. Don’t go all yellow on the world!
9PM: fireworks are lighting up the sky, beautiful art work.

Not much fashion for the fourth this year… Kinda disappointed but Happy Fourth everyone. Happy Fourth.

Accessories:
I LOVE ACCESSORIES. I did mention accessories previously, but will go in details here. Like said before, accessories are a girl’s best friend.  Don’t even get me started on how much accessories are available for us girls to buy. OMG! Everywhere you turn there is either a little boutique or a shop that has its own section of accessories. It is OUTRAGOUS! In a good way Accessories are that last touches of your outfit. It completes it!

The necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, ankle bracelets, earrings, sun glasses, hair accessories, belts, hats and etc…

Bottoms:
As the weather gets warm, the less clothing the better, right, boyfriends? Let me explain that better, the lighter the clothing the better you get to deal with the heat. Jeans can be worn during the breezing cold and the dazzling hot. For summer try to go with shorts and skirts. It is the best way to stay cool especially during the hot days of California. Shorts are shorts and skirts are skirts. Buy whichever one you like but make sure you are buying it because you like it and it feels comfortable wearing it rather than buying just for the style. It is important to be able to move when wearing shorts and not thinking about fixing them after every two steps you take. Go wild with choosing colors for shorts because you can have red shorts, put on a white top and you are set to go! Don’t limit yourself to only buying jeans shorts, navy, or black so it can be matched with every color top. Don’t forget you always have a white top in your closet that can go with any color short you buy. If you don’t, I suggest you get at least one white top.

Shoes:
Girls around me always say, “Can’t wait for summer to wear flip flops.” Yes, we girls love summer because it is time to do our toes and wear our flip flops, flats, sandals, and open toe heels.

School is out! Summer is Here! The warm weather, the sun, the fun! Style your summer with colors, colors, AND COLORS.  It is time to mix and match colors and look GREAT!
Summer, white becomes the trend color for all clothing. To some it may not seem stylish to others it might. It is your body, dress it the way you want to. Don’t follow the trend if you don’t like it.

Let’s start with Tops & Dresses:

Girls, we always want to look good right? That doesn’t mean you need to over dress yourself in this hot weather to look good. As simple as a top can be, you can accessorize. One of the good things of being a girl is that jewelry is your best friend when it comes to having a simple outfit. When you shop, go out and buy the tops that have a life in them, meaning colors that make you feel good when you put it on. Not only when you shop should you do that, also when you are trying to pick your outfit of the day from your closet. You always have one top in mind that you want but sometimes it is just not there and it drives you crazy. It is okay, look in your closet I am sure you will find a top that you probably have forgotten about from last summer. Try it on before saying, “oh this is from last summer,” because trust me, I have been through that, you will find it to be probably the cutest top in your closet; that is why, it is still there!  At times I stand in front of my closet for 40 minutes and try on so many different outfits but never find the perfect outfit. How is that possible? I have bought everything in my closet that should mean I like them all. Therefore, don’t over think when it comes to choosing your top for the day because it will stress you out and drive you nuts! Simply pick the one that you are in the mood of wearing and put it on! You will be surprised how comfortable and great you will look by getting dressed quickly and not over analyzing everything.

Dresses are the cutest outfits for summer. There are so many different styles that a girl can wear a different style for every day of summer; but of course there is no need of a new outfit for every day. There are the short dresses, long dresses, one shoulder dresses, slim dresses, puffy dresses, and you name it. Dresses are simply one complete outfit that you just put on without worrying if your outfit matches together.

Tips:

• Simple tops with brackets, a necklace, and hair accessory (can put all or can put one your choice, just don’t overdo it)
• Off shoulder tops
• Tank-tops  with a vest or a Cardigan
• Tops with Back Tunic
• T-shirts
• Thin fabric

Don’t Do’s:

• Scarf as an accessory, It is SUMMER! (Unless needed ) Or (if necessary)
• Thick Jackets because you bought it new. (Unless needed ) or (If necessary)
• Winter hats for style.

Always put in mind that summer is hot and you need to put on something that will keep you cool. Therefore, I suggest you choose light colors. You can NEVER go wrong with white–keeps you cool, matches with anything if not everything.

To my readers,

“I sometimes wish there was more than 24 hours in a day. So many things to do, so little time,” I start my blog with a quote said by a very close person to my heart, Apo Avedissian. He has used this line in one of his blog writings on his personal Apotize.com. Life as we know it is non-stop, running. We are so busy that we don’t have time to sit down to write about the things we are passionate about. It is a rainy day; I finally put my business to the side, and am gathering up my thoughts and starting writing.

Fashion is what my life is based on. Waking up every morning, walking into my closet, looking at my clothes, and thinking to myself, “what will I put on today to be me.” The idea of picking out clothes from my closet and matching them up helps me start my day. No need for coffee, all I need is my clothes. When it comes to dressing up, my mind turns into a computer visualizing my clothes trying to figure out which item of my clothing I am in the mood of wearing today. The way I dress is the way I feel for the day.  I can’t stress enough on how much I LOVE dressing up, accessorizing, looking stylish and being comfortable all at the same time!!!

My passion for fashion started at a very young age with my mother being my fashion stylist and my inspiration. From a young age I loved being unique, my grandmother and aunts always sowed my clothes with the design that my mother drew out for them. So basically, no one had what I wore and I loved the attention that people gave me on how pretty I looked. Of course, all thanks to my mom because she dressed me up, accessorized, tied my curly hair making it look like a palm tree, and always matching me up. As I grew up, I was different than other girls, dressing wise. I love the colors black and white. I am not so colorful, but once in a while I add color to my outfits, but I love the idea of being elegant in black and white.

Why I made this blog????

My fashion icon is Victoria Beckham. Her book That extra Half An Inch, is one of my favorite fashion books that I have read. She goes into details about what one should wear to truly fit them.
